Connemara Marble by Gerard Napkin Rings.NOTE: The ring pictured is the one you will get from choosing a stock number, number 1, 2 or 3.
Gerard is a second-generation master stone cutter, known for his Connemara marble offerings.
A superb gift, even if you are not Irish, because this marble is extraordinary in its beauty! No picture can ever do it justice. It is called a 'proud' marble, meaning extremely hard. In fact, it is supposed to be the hardest marble in the world, which makes its carving even more difficult!
Hand Carved, this marble is quarried in County Galway, in the 12 Bens, a mountain region of the Connemara. The marble is MILLIONS of years old [750-900 million is one common estimate].....giving a whole new meaning to its being 'as old as the hills'! [A feeble attempt at humor]. Remember, part of the unique qualities of this marble is that no two can ever be identical, therefore slight variations will occur in the color, thickness, and height. [Height and thickness variation is very slight.]
These are brand new, directly [to me] from Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland, Gerard's place of business.
Very tough to describe the colors and nuances of the marble.
